AEW’s Mercedes Moné Announced For Indie Match Against Recently Released WWE Star

Mercedes Moné’s Return to Independent Wrestling Set for “City of Dreamz”

Date: March 15, 2025 Venue: NYC Arena, House of Glory (HOG) Event

Current AEW TBS Champion Mercedes Moné, famously known as “The CEO,” is set to grace the independent wrestling scene for the first time in over a decade. Breaking away from her dominant run in All Elite Wrestling’s women’s division, Moné will headline HOG’s “City of Dreamz” event in her first non-major promotion appearance since 2012. Her opponent? None other than the former WWE Superstar, Indi Hartwell.

A Rivalry Born of Friendship

Moné and Hartwell may not have crossed paths during their shared WWE careers, but their bond has flourished outside the ring. Regular training sessions brought the two together, with Moné praising Hartwell’s unwavering work ethic. Interestingly, Hartwell once revealed that the iconic match between Moné (then Sasha Banks) and Bayley at WWE NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn (2015) was the spark that inspired her to pursue wrestling.

Hartwell’s Momentum and Moné’s Challenges

Hartwell recently made her triumphant return to independent wrestling, capturing the Renegades of Wrestling Women’s Championship in her native Australia on March 9, 2025. For Moné, though, this encounter poses challenges beyond the opponent: “The CEO” is nursing a bruised larynx from her match against Momo Watanabe at AEW Revolution. Yet, even while holding multiple titles across AEW, RevPro, and New Japan Pro Wrestling, Moné remains as formidable as ever.
